Clothes that let the air through

Linen and cotton, woven not knitted, cut loose for heat. Every page tells you the cloth, what it weighs, who it is cut for, and what it will do after the first wash.

Six things, done in a few cloths

Shirts, trousers, shorts, dresses and skirts, overshirts and hats. Nothing with a zip you cannot see.

All 30 pieces

The pieces that get reordered

The washed linen shirt first, then the wide trousers, then a second hat because the first one stayed on holiday.

Linen, cotton, or the two together

Each one has a habit. We put the habit on the product page rather than in the small print.

The fabric guide

Linen creases, and cools

The coolest cloth we sell and the one that wrinkles within the hour. Garment-washed so it arrives soft; 165 to 280 gsm depending on the piece. Buy it if you can live with the creases, because nothing else breathes like it.

Cotton holds a line

Poplin, canvas and twill. Smoother, more opaque and far less creased than linen, and slightly warmer for it. The poplin is the shirt for an office; the twill is the overshirt for an evening by the water.

Linen-cotton splits the difference

A 55/45 blend. Most of the coolness, about half the creasing, softer from the first wear. It pills very slightly at the cuffs for a few washes, which pure linen never does. The drawstring trousers and the chore overshirt are made of it.

And the hats

Paper straw is a twisted paper yarn, braided and sewn in a spiral. It is light and even and does not splinter, and it is not for rain: a shower spots it and a soaking softens the brim for good. Only the packable hat and the linen bucket hat go in a bag.

04 / Sizing

Letters for tops, inches for trousers, centimetres for hats

Shirts, shorts, dresses and skirts run XS to XXL on a women’s block, a men’s block or one unisex block, and the page says which. Trousers are sized by the waist, W26 to W38. Hats come in S, M and L by head circumference. The size guide has the flat measurements for all of it.

Measure before you order

New this season

A few pieces a year. Each one was worn for a summer by somebody here before it went on sale.

Everything new

The weight is on the page

Grams per square metre for every cloth and grams for every hat. “Lightweight” means a number here, not a mood.

3-year repair promise

A seam that opens or a button that comes off within 3 years of delivery is repaired at our cost, postage both ways. Fading, creasing and snags are not covered and we say so.

Three towns in Valencia and Alicante

Linen is cut and sewn in Alcoy, trousers in Ontinyent, cotton in Mataró, hats in Valencia. Each page says which.

No logos, no labels you can see

Nothing printed or embroidered on the outside. A small size tab inside the side seam, and a care label you can cut out.

Colours being retired

When a shade leaves the range its last run is reduced against the price it sold for over the previous 30 days. Never more than a few pieces, never more than 18%.

All final runs

“I ordered the wide trousers by my actual waist measurement for once instead of guessing a letter, and they fit. The page said the knees would bag by evening and they did, exactly as described. I bought the ink pair a month later.”

When a new cloth arrives

A note when a new piece goes on sale, when a colour is about to be retired, and the odd thing about getting a crease out of linen without an iron. No ticking clocks, no codes that die at midnight.
